Function Head Housekeeping

Purpose of the function:

Manage the execution of the cleaning program at the agreed quality level and productivity. The activities take place in the hotel and include the performance of general cleaning maintenance.

Position in the organisation:

Direct supervisor:               Service manager/Area manager

Supervising to:                   10 to 40 cleaning employees, including possible supervisors

Content of the function & key tasks:

  • Directing of the operations in the hotel which include the execution of the cleaning maintenance regarding a predefined working program. This also includes assigning tasks to employees, give instructions, control the work-quality and progress (productivity);
  • Take care and schedule the staffing and leave requests. Adjust the schedule in case of absence of employees and solve the unpredictable staffing problems in cooperation with the direct supervisor;
  • Monitor the use of cleaning products, (hand)tools, materials and machines. Correct the deviations when necessary and give instructions. Monitor the productivity and the correct execution of tasks regarding the program;
  • Identify desired adjustments in the program as a result of the operating conditions. Discuss and execute the adjustments in cooperation with the direct supervisor, this also includes the adjustments suggested by the hotel. Assess the adjustment plans on consequences (staffing, working times, task division, products etc.) and advise the direct supervisor. Adapt the working schedule based on program adjustments;
  • Take care of a proper storage and management of products and materials. Ensure the availability of enough products, depending on the predefined procedure;
  • Take care of the staff management which includes the assessment of new employees (hiring and placement will be done by the direct supervisor), execute the regulations of absence, train new employees, provide supervision during the trial period and execute an assessment. Advise the direct supervisor regarding the permanent employment;
  • Execute additional activities like:
  • Take care of the complaints, comments, instructions etc. of the client;
  • Process the hour-administration;
  • Manage the access keys, close the service- and working areas after working hours and monitor the follow up of the prescribed rules and procedures regarding safety, closing and others;
  • Incidentally (in case of understaffing as a result of sickness of employees etc.) self-execute all common cleaning tasks;
  • Take care of a correct task division and a good state of affairs in the hotel.

Function-requirements:

  • A finished HM/FM-education, complemented with 2 years of relevant working experience;
  • Excellent spoken and written knowledge of the Dutch language, complemented with a good basic knowledge of English;
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office package;
  • Good communication skills;
  • You are representative, hospitable and service-oriented;
  • Organising, motivating and controlling are competencies that fits your personality;
  • You possesses supervising skills
